![]() Perhaps this would result in Zazu being put in the “birdie boiler” for the first time (I know that the Mufasa/Zazu backstory had an explanation behind Zazu’s fear of the ‘boiler’ but it’s clear that this comic is only going by the movie alone so I can live with that). Once again, Scar’s connection to the hyenas cannot be news to Zazu otherwise it would be a major continuity flaw with the movie. But it could be possible that Scar could send the hyenas to blackmail Zazu into giving the info. Of course for this to work, Scar would have to work very smart in order to not reveal any fault of his: Because the hyenas are no doubt going to cause a stampede which will lead to chaos in the Pride Lands, and Scar will have to hide under the radar, especially since Zazu is surprised when he allows the hyenas into the Pride Lands, so he can’t know that the hyenas were working for Scar (again, which is why the “Zazu is a traitor” theory is dumb as fuck and why this comic that claims to be “canon compliant” with the film should not under any means try to even touch that theory). IF Zazu’s moral alignment remains the same, yet he still “helps” Scar, I think that Scar will use counter-intelligence against him, using him as a pawn whilst Zazu has no idea.Įxamples of this would be if Scar spied on Zazu as he gave the morning report to Mufasa and intook some useful information about the herds, or tell Zazu that there would be a seemingly innocent and harmless outcome if he decided to do an extra fly-view of the herds and tell both him and Mufasa. It’s what he uses to keep the hyenas in line and to trick Simba to his supposed death: Scar’s main power above all else is smarts and manipulation. So, in that case, what might they do with Zazu, if they don’t make him evil?: Here are my theories (all of which I hope they’ll use instead of the traitor idea): 1: Counter-Intelligence ![]() Now, this was stated about Scar, but if the writers want to heavily tie themselves into the original film, then they’d be shooting themselves in the foot by turning Zazu into a feathery British Hans. In an interview with one of the writers, Chuck Brown had noted that he heavily analyzed the movie as a source for the comic and did some deep digging on Scar’s character and even hired an editor to make sure that the story would be in-line with the original film. Now, let me be clear: I have been very forgiving of the comic for its awkward placing and discrepancies between it and the film, enough for me to see it as canon: But this cliffhanger really challenged my patience and expectations and one move they could take next could make or break it.īecause they put the vultures on a bus (cowards!) now it looks like they’ll be turning Zazu into a complete jerkass who will help Scar, which will badly undermine plot of the first film where he’s a part of the good guys whilst simultaneously giving all the stupid “Zazu is a traitor” theory an actual foothold and making me take back almost any bad thing I’ve said about the 6NA prequels.īUT - How possible is it for them to actually go through this route? (Sorry, still need to get this out of my system) YOU BASTARDS!!!!! ![]() So about that cliffhanger from last week’s issue of the Scar comic. (It’s been a week so I think it’s appropriate for me to post this without the spoilers tag - Also do notice the big fat BUT in the title, this will be important)
